Keeping Springfields and Trent Vale Tidy
Last week Birgit Allport and a group of local residents were determined to do something positive for their community and organised a local litter pick.
Birgit, who is standing as Labour’s candidate in Springfields and Trent Vale in the local elections on 2 May, was joined by residents and neighbours in the area around Riverside Road, Greenwood Avenue and Ashcroft Avenue.
The area is looking so much better now after these committed residents gave up a couple of hours of their weekend. They filled four bin bags in no time at all!
Once the team had finished their litter pick they headed over to the Queensberry Hub in Trent Vale for the latest meeting of the Better Together community support group for lunch, cakes, craft activities and a good chat.
Birgit said, “We cleared so much rubbish in a short amount of time. And then we went to meet even more wonderful people at the community group. I love where I live”.
It was such a good experience that Birgit is planning to do it again next month! It would be great if you could come and join the team tidying up the Springfields area. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with Birgit if you would like to volunteer.
